The musical production is on the lookout for cast and crew and if the production staff’s enthusiasm is anything to go by, it is set to be an absolute cracker.
The auditions will be held March 21 and 22 from 1pm-5pm
Director Don Hillam said things were shaping up well.
“We have got the expertise for this show, we just need an amazing cast now,” Mr Hillam said.
“We can't believe the talent that has come out of our school (Marian Catholic College), so we can't imagine what we will get from the whole town.
“I never have someone in mind for a part because someone else who you have never heard about can come into an audition and blow you away.
“This is an opportunity for anyone of any age to get involved with musical theatre”
Set designer Heath Neville more than matches Mr Hillam’s enthusiasm for the project and will help bring the show to life.
“It's a big job but I love it,” Mr Neville said.
“We start off with these design sketches but they morph and just keep growing to get to the final product.
“Someone can come up with the smallest idea and we run with it and it can make a whole scene.”
The community production will have a cast of more than 70 people, a live band, amazing sets, lighting and costumes that are sure to dazzle.
The show will have a run of dates from September 10 to September 19 and Mr Hillam encouraged people from all walks of life to get involved.
“We have jobs for whatever people are interested in, behind the scenes or on stage, we need people for everything,” Mr Hillam said.
“John Matkovic is one of the best lighting guys I have worked with and having someone like Sarah Boon is amazing, her enthusiasm is infectious.
“It's a great opportunity for school kids and leavers wanting to pursue a career to get a bit more experience to put on their resume.
“We want to encourage people who haven't been involved in musical theatre before to come give it a go.
“We also want men to join in, trust me they'll have more fun here at the theatre than they do at footy training.”
Griffith Regional Theatre director Sarah Boon will also produce Beauty and the Beast.
She said a community production was long overdue for Griffith and was excited about getting stuck into it.
“I love this, this is why I do what I do. This is what I train to do, producing and directing theatre,” Mrs Boon said.
“Community theatre is what keeps this place alive.”
