The reigning Griffith District Cricket Association premiers batted out their 70 overs on Saturday to make an imposing 8-257.
Duane Ashcroft (66), Phil Burge (54) and captain Marc Tucker (40) were Exies’ main contributors with the willow after a shaky start left their side at 2-13.
Considering Diggers haven’t won a game in the one or two-day competition this summer, Exies are at short odds to secure first innings points.
But Tucker would prefer an outright victory to snare a top-two finish for the start of finals.
“We’ve definitely got enough runs for first innings. It’s just a matter of if we get an outright,” Tucker said.
“We'll dig deep and just make sure we get the first innings points and see how we go after that.”
Exies were fourth on the ladder before the match, level on 44 points with fifth-placed Leagues Club.
