In between shows, drummer Damien, along with lead vocalist Sam Baker, bassist Nick Burg, vocalist and rhythm guitarist Pat Reuter-Town and lead guitarist Alex Court, dropped into Griffith to catch up with family and friends, as well as some ulterior motives.
"We are just popping home for a few days. We had a gig on Saturday in Wagga and our next gig is in Bendigo,” Jones said.
“Instead of hauling ass back to Sydney we came to Griffith to stock up on supplies.”
The boys will be promoting their new EP ‘Her Kiss’, which was released on their new record label Petrol Records.
Lepers and Crooks signed with Petrol following the backing they received from Chris “CM” Murphy.
"When someone like CM Murphy puts his reputation on the line, that was pretty crazy,” Jones said.
"To be the only other band besides INXS is another crazy thing, it's evidence to the faith that people have in us. I think we feel like it's an incentive to perform.
"The first time we met Chris and talked business, he said ‘if you guys are here to be a pop band, I’ll see you later, but if you are willing to take this as far as you want, let’s do it’.”
The band have been on tour since New Year’s Eve and will be in Griffith on Saturday March 7, performing at the Area Hotel.
“Starting things with New Year’s in Byron, we couldn’t ask for a better kick off to a tour,” Jones said.
“We had this awesome show in Wagga last weekend which, was crazy, we had a few hundred people turn out.
“We like to do it old school, face to face. We think there’s nothing as charismatic, you know, that connection when your face to face with someone. Being able to go all around Australia to do that is a dream come true.
“It’s the best way to be hearing this kind of music. We are a live band, we’re a rock band we’re in your face.
“We love recording but we thrive in the live arena.
Jones said the new extended play is a extensive mixture of all the influences that the band takes on board.
“We try to be eclectic about it. We’ve got ‘Her Kiss’ which is our pop rock ballad,” he said.
“’This System’ is our angst grungy track and ‘City Streams of Consciousness’ is like The Doors.
“’Jack’ is pretty acoustic, a fun loving folk tune. We love the folk as well. Some of favourite Led Zeppelin tunes are that laid back acoustic vibe.
“We like to experiment and we’ve tried to portray that in this EP.”
