The match was called off with Coro in the box seat after Exies were reduced to 6-54.
But Exies’ innings looked set for an enthralling finish, with Cam Arnold (11 not out) and Justin Winkler (13 not out) in the early stages of a revival.
The wickets for the Cougars were shared evenly between Angus Kennedy (2-13), Alex Flood (2-13) and Jonathon Morris (2-17).
Coro captain Haydn Pascoe was disappointed the game was rained out given the position his team was in.
“It was terrible (the pitch). It stopped raining but still looked a bit iffy. In the end we played, so the umpires must have thought it was right to play on,” he said.
"If we had got them for 80-odd, we’d have been looking good.
"The wicket was drying out a bit, but then we got hit with more rain and the game had to be called off.
"Full credit to our boys. We fielded well, no dropped catches, which is a good boost for our confidence.
"Everyone bowled well. It's a good sign coming into the finals. Even over the last few weeks we’ve been batting well as a team.
“It's not ever an individual who gets us home. Hopefully we can keep up this form.”
But Pascoe fears the washout may cost his team a finals spot.
“The same thing happened last year,” he said.
“We only lost one game, but had two or three washouts and it affected our ladder position.”
On Friday, the Cougars won their Twenty20 game against the over 35 team by forfeit, while the Yenda-Leagues game was washed out.
In other news, junior cricket restarts on Saturday. Senior Bradman begins at 8.45am at Jubilee Oval and Beelbangera. Junior Bradman and Milo cricket is on at Exies No.1 at 9am.
