“I didn’t know anything about the proposal,” Ms Yates said.
“We were at the crossfit competition at Livefit and everyone lined up for a photo.
“Then everyone started clapping, so I’m standing there, clapping like an idiot.”
Ms Yates said when her partner, Evan Sloan, went to propose to her, she didn’t know what was going on.
“I thought, what’s he doing, he’s ruining the photo. But then it dawned on me and I said: ‘Oh, that’s what you’re doing.’”
The legal secretary said the proposal was a “big shock” for her, but she was over the moon with excitement.
“The ring is very pretty,” she said. “And we’re looking at getting married in April 2016.”
Ms Yates said she loved the location her partner chose to get down on his knees.
“I’m at the gym all the time, I love it,” she said. "And I really like crossfit, it’s a great way to challenge yourself, it’s lots of fun and you meet great people.”
