The Wade High School student, who studied Tourism and Events through OTEN (Open Education and Training Network), topped the year.
She was inspired to study tourism after spending six months in Germany on student exchange in year 10.
"While I was there I travelled around a lot, so I got to see things from a tourist point of view," she said.
"Tourism has been my passion ever since.
"I didn't think I'd do this well. It was hard because I was on my own.
"But about halfway through I knuckled down and gave it my best. I learned a lot about self motivation."
Meg hopes her impressive result in tourism and events and keen head for business will further her career aspirations.
The 17-year-old received a 96 in tourism and achieved three band 6 and two band 5s overall in the HSC and a Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of 95.1.
"I am very interested in tourism, but also went well in business studies," she said.
"I'm aiming to get into University of NSW for international studies. My ideal career is probably in international business, foreign trade or something like that."
The budding tourism guru said she was proud that Griffith had some top attractions.
"For me, La Festa and the Multicultural Festival are great events because they show off what we have here," she said.
"I'd have to say that our wineries and Pioneer Park are wonderful too.
"We are a country town, with a special heritage. Our food is definitely the best in the world.
"Even though Griffith is small it has a lot of potential."
