Police said at about 3.40pm the resident of a Whybrow Street home returned to his house and saw a man walking from the driveway.
"The resident entered his home and a short time later noticed that an electronic tablet and a mobile phone were missing," Griffith police Inspector Kim Traynor said.
The man contacted police who, as a result of information received, attended a Griffith motel, where they arrested a 37-year old man.
Inspector Traynor said an amount of stolen property was found at the motel room.
The man was charged with several offences, including break and enter, and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail and faced Leeton Local Court on Monday.
"Police believe this arrest is a great example of prompt reporting by the community, together with information regarding the offender's description leading to an early arrest and the recovery of stolen property," Inspector Traynor said.
"If you see a crime in progress or need urgent assistance from emergency services please contact triple-0 immediately."
