But three weeks before her due date, joy turned to unimaginable heartache when she gave birth to a stillborn son Arlo Woods at 3.30pm on Saturday, October 18. Coming to terms with the loss hasn't been easy for Emma or her partner John Woods.
Their greatest wish now is to help ease the pain for other couples and to never forget Arlo.
They are fundraising for a Cuddle Cot for Griffith Base Hospital's maternity ward.
The special cot will allow babies who have died to remain with their families so that they don't have to be kept in a mortuary environment.
"I woke up on the morning of my daughter's sixth birthday and I knew something wasn't right," Ms Robertson said.
"We let her have her birthday and sent her off to school with cupcakes to share with her class.
"Then we came into town to the hospital. At first they thought it was tachycardia and started to prepare me for a caesarian but the last ultrasound they did before going into theatre found there was no heartbeat. That was the Tuesday. I was induced on Friday and had him on Saturday afternoon."
Ms Robertson, 26, said after experiencing a "normal" pregnancy she was in shock.
"It was the hardest thing we've ever had to go through," she said.
"I can still picture his beautiful face. He had a lot of dark hair and looked like his big sister. He was 3.4 kilos and just perfect.
"It was really difficult. He was a baby who had passed away but we had to put him in one of the normal hospital cribs, I can remember someone referred to where he was being kept as the refrigerator. These cuddle cots have a cooling system so that the baby can stay with the mother and she can recover at her own pace.
"Raising money to purchase one for the hospital is my way of dealing with it. I wanted to do something and I wasn't sure what, then this popped up on my Facebook newsfeed and it seemed right."
