THE Griffith Demons will head into this week's MIA League grand final brimming with confidence following their 57-53 victory over the Leeton Eagles in Saturday's away clash.
The Demons trailed the Eagles most of the game before a defensive rally helped them swamp the home side in the fourth quarter.
The contest bore little resemblance to the teams' first clash of the season, which saw the Demons prevail 71-23.
Demons coach Steve McCanna missed Saturday's match but said it was pleasing his players fought for the result.
"It was good we were up against it and showed some resilience there and fought back to get a scrappy win," he said.
"It's always good to win those ones where you don't necessarily play your best, but you still do enough to win.
"I think we'll be better for it."
The Demons play Narrandera in this Saturday's grand final and will start favourite courtesy of their unbeaten record, but McCanna is taking nothing for granted.
Last year the Demons were also unbeaten heading into the season decider before losing to Leeton by a point in overtime.
"You don't forget something like that very easily," McCanna said.
"But I'll still remind the boys about it this week and tell them not to be complacent and to make sure we get the job done.
"We can only control the next game. It doesn't matter what's happened in the past."
McCanna said the Demons would field a full-strength side for the grand final.
"It looks like everyone's going to be available, so I'm expecting a few headaches when it comes to picking the team," he said.
The Demons women's side also won on Saturday after beating the Eagles 63-49.
Jess Hill and Maddie Testoni starred for the Demons, who will also play Narrandera in the grand final.
Griffith coach Carolyn Snow said it was an encouraging performance ahead of the year's biggest game.
"I think the girls are looking pretty good," she said.
