"DREAM big" isn't the normal advice given to footballers, but Griffith Blacks women's coach Elenoa Latu wants three of her players to expand their ambitions.
Lele Katoa, Neda Amiatu and Fapiola Uoifalelahi have been selected in the ACT Brumbies women's sevens squad for March's national championships.
It's a big opportunity for the Blacks players ahead of the debut of sevens rugby at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The sport is considered a medal opportunity for Australia and talent identification has begun to make sure the best players are on the field.
Latu said her younger teammates had the ability to excel at the top level.
"I definitely encourage them to take this opportunity and run with it," she said.
"They're all fairly young, so they've got nothing to lose.
"I just really hope they make the most of it because they could go a long way."
Katoa, Amiatu and Uoifalelahi have started training with the Brumbies and will travel to Canberra twice a week to prepare for the national championships and other tournaments.
Latu is backing the trio to shine. Rugby sevens places an emphasis on speed and agility, and Latu has seen first hand what her Blacks players are capable of.
"They're all outstanding young footballers," Latu said.
"Sevens is so much more faster than normal rugby.
"The field is very open, so having speed is a big thing.
"All the girls are fast and strong, which is just what you need."
