DIGGERS captain Scott Smith has flagged a back-to-basics approach in an attempt to revive his team's season following a winless start to the summer.
Diggers are the only team yet to register a win after three rounds and take on Coro in a 40-over clash at Exies No.2 Oval tomorrow.
Batting has been the biggest problem for Diggers, who have failed to pass 100 in their past two games.
Smith said his team had to learn to occupy the crease better.
"Batting out 40 overs has always been a problem for Diggers," he said.
"We have blokes who go out there and like to get runs quickly, but they're also a chance of getting out early.
"If we can go out there, spend time at the crease and build partnerships, it doesn't take many.
"Two or three decent partnerships will get us up around the 150 mark.
"At the moment we've only got one or two blokes getting 20-odd runs, and that's just not enough."
Smith said Diggers would keep their tactics simple in an effort to kick-start their summer.
"It's time to get back to basics, like bowling tight lines and taking our chances when we're batting and fielding." he said.
"It's a game of cricket. Funny things can happen, but we'll be up against it this week because we'll have five blokes missing.
"But we'll just try and put a team together, be competitive and concentrate on our game."
Coro captain Haydn Pascoe is focusing on building momentum after the Cougars broke through for their first win of the season against Hanwood last week.
With the monkey off the back, Pascoe said now was the time to push forward.
"It definitely feels good to have got that win, but we've got to keep playing good cricket," he said.
"It's going to be a close competition, so we definitely need to keep playing well."
That instruction also applies to Pascoe, who smashed 88 against Leeton while representing Griffith last Sunday.
The top-order batsman hopes to carry that form into tomorrow.
"It'd be nice, but I always seem to get runs on Sunday instead of Saturday," Pascoe said.
"I don't know why that is, but hopefully that changes."
