A BIG innings from Coro captain Haydn Pascoe inspired Griffith to a 214-run victory over Leeton in its first Country Shield clash of the season on Sunday.
After losing the toss and being sent into bat, Griffith plundered the home side's bowling attack to amass 7-306 from its 50 overs.
Pascoe led the way with 88 and shared in a 137-run stand with Leagues Club young gun Connor Matheson (53) to set up the intimidating total.
In reply, Leeton never got going at the crease and was dismissed for 92 after slumping to 3-7 in the early part of its run chase.
The Griffith bowlers shared the wickets, with captain Paul Plummer, Tom West, Dom Brown and Matheson all snaring two apiece.
Plummer said the victory was set up with a brilliant batting display.
"We started off really strong," he said.
"Dom Brown got 30-odd at the top of the order and got us going at six an over.
"We didn't let off after that.
"It was always going to be hard (for Leeton). Chasing more than 300 is going to be difficult any day of the week."
But even with a huge total to play with, Plummer said Griffith didn't relax in the field.
"I thought we fielded extremely well," he said.
"(James) Cimador, our keeper, took a few brilliant catches.
"We held nearly all our catches and took a couple of screamers.
"Everyone chipped in, which was really pleasing."
Griffith's next game is against Albury-Wodonga in Albury on November 23.
