Griffith Detective Superintendent Michael Rowan said inquiries were continuing.
He urged members of the public with information relating to the incident to contact police.
A 25-year-old man was killed when he was riding a quad bike on Stacy Road at Wilbriggie on Saturday, October 18 just after 4pm.
It is believed the rider of the quad bike involved with the collision fled the scene.
Detective Superintendent Rowan issued a warning to motorists following the region’s spate of fatal collisions.
“It is a timely reminder that motor vehicles, if driven inappropriately, without care can result in catastrophic results that have an impact on many individuals whether directly involved or otherwise and I reinforce the message to take care,” he said.
Superintendent Rowan also encouraged motor vehicle owners to remain vigilant following a significant spike in thefts.
“There has been a significant spike in steal from motor vehicle offences in Griffith in early October, however police have been involved in a number of strategies to reduce these offences, which have been successful with reported offences coming back to a trend,” he said.
“I implore residents within the LAC to take care, secure your car and not leave valuables in sight, especially as we move closer to the Christmas season,” he said.
