At about 3am on Wednesday morning two youths entered a home on Davidge Place.
The teens made threats to the occupant before assaulting him and leaving, stealing property from a vehicle.
A short time later there were attempts to set houses on fire.
Griffith Fire and Rescue Captain Kevin Roth said firefighters were called to a home in Middleton Avenue in the early hours of Tuesday where the front door had been set on fire.
"The door had been well alight, but was extinguished by the residents of the house," Mr Roth said.
Firefighters ventilated the home to clear it of smoke, but while they were busy at the scene they received a call to another fire.
"Someone had set a room on fire in an unoccupied house in Field Place," Mr Roth said.
The fire station captain said fire crews found petrol spilled throughout the house.
Neighbours extinguished the blaze before it could cause too much damage to the house.
About 5am a 2002 silver Commodore sedan was stolen from Curtain Street and was seen in the area of the original crimes.
About 7.30am two youths were pursued on foot by police on Scenic Hill and they were last seen in the Macarthur Street area.
The stolen vehicle was recovered a short time later on Scenic Hill and is being forensically examined.
On Thursday morning, RFS and NSW Fire and Rescue crews had to extinguish a deliberately lit grass fire in the same area where the two other fires were lit on on Wednesday.
Griffith police Detective Inspector Paul Smith encouraged anyone with information to contact police on 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
"Investigations are continuing in relation to this crime spree and we would certainly like to hear from anyone who may have information," Detective Inspector Smith said.
"Investigators have suspects, however, seek your assistance to obtain the required evidence to get these individuals off the street."
