Shortly after 9pm Acacia Motel owner Alan Scott and his wife Carol heard a loud noise on Jondaryan Avenue.
“We heard the screech of breaks and then a thud,” Mr Scott said.
“I said to my wife ‘someone’s been hit’.”
Mr Scott went out onto the road, where he spoke to the driver of a ute who said a man had run out in front of him.
“He got hit and thrown onto the bonnet, smashed the windscreen and then somersaulted off the car,” he said.
“The young guy is very lucky he had no injuries.”
Mr Scott said he believed the man was intoxicated and ran out in front of the ute.
“The young guy had a bit too much to drink. He came back and apologised to the driver,” he said.
Mr Scott said the man could have been killed.
“Running across the road when there is oncoming traffic is just stupidity,” Mr Scott said.
“Use a bit of common sense.”
Police and ambulance responded and the owner of the ute was unable to drive it home due to the extensive damage.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said officers responded to an incident in which a man had been hit by a car on Jondaryan Avenue about 9.05pm.
“We attended but treatment was declined," she said.
