Councillor Paul Rossetto expressed concern about the issue earlier this year and said a panel would be set up to tackle the issue and ensure residents feel safe.

Police, Member for Murrumbidgee Adrian Piccoli, mayor John Dal Broi, magistrate Shane McAnulty, liquor accord members and taxi drivers were among those in attendance.

"Council is forming a panel to continue the policy development work on the Hands Off Griffith Community Crime Plan," Cr Rossetto said.

Some of the suggestions Cr Rossetto put forward included ensuring there were no areas in the CBD that did not have CCTV cameras and improved lighting.

"We need to actually put together a network plan of the areas we want fully covered," Cr Rossetto said.

"We're hearing that there are blackspots and the perpetrators are aware of these blackspots."

Cr Rossetto said he was very pleased with the outcome of the meeting.

"The overall purpose of that particular policy (Hands Off Griffith Community Crime Plan) is for the council to do what it can to make the community safer," he said.

Cr Rossetto said police revealed the number of violent attacks in the city had not increased, but Cr Rossetto said it only took one incident to make community members fearful.
