GRIFFITH Motorcycle Sports Club riders produced all the right moves at Nepean Raceway earlier this month to bring back plenty of silverware from a dirt track meeting in Penrith.
April Napoli led the charge in the 12 Amigos race, despite mechanical problems forcing her to use a bike leant to her by clubmate David Gras.
Napoli took a while to warm up in the race but gradually worked her way from 11th to the front of the pack with four laps remaining.
Once in the lead there was no stopping Napoli, who left 11 male competitors in her wake on her way to claiming the win.
Not ready to put her feet up, Napoli returned to the track the following day to take fourth in the pre-70 race.
Gras also had a successful weekend, claiming first in the pre-75 125cc and pre-75 open races, second in the pre-70 and third in the over 45 Evo event.
Peter Lee was in the trophies as well after finishing first in the over 45 Evo and pre-70 races.
Competing in his first senior event, Levi Quade stepped up against older competitors to finish fifth in the pre-75 250cc event.
Jason Hampel also looked set for a good result when he qualified third for the pre-75 250cc race before mechanical problems forced him to retire.
The Penrith meeting was perfect preparation for the Griffith riders, who will compete at the Australian National Classic Dirt Track Titles in Canberra next month.
In other news, Griffith Motorcycle Sports Club will host the last round of the Golden Wheels at Pines Circuit under lights at September 13.
Being the final chance to earn points, there should be plenty of fast and competitive racing. Practice starts at 4pm. Entry is free and a full canteen will be operating.
