Griffith Police Detective Inspector Paul Smith issued a warning to people who were behaving in an offensive manner yesterday.
"Such behaviour will not be tolerated and those wishing to act this way will find themselves before the court to answer their actions," Detective Inspector Smith said.
His comment came after a 44-year-old Leeton man was refused bail following an incident outside a fast food restaurant in the city's CBD on Friday night.
Police responded to a call regarding an intoxicated man who was causing trouble.
It is alleged that when they arrived the man threw a drink he was holding at the police car and began to use offensive language.
He was arrested and searched and it is alleged police found a small amount of a prohibited drug in his pocket.
The man was taken to the Griffith Police Station, where it is alleged he spat on two female police officers.
He was charged with a string of offences, including assaulting police and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail in the Griffith Bail Court on Saturday morning.
The incident comes after a man appeared in court last week after allegedly threatening police with a .177 air rifle.

Meanwhile, a man was taken to Griffith Base Hospital by ambulance after a truck rollover in Rankins Springs in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A prime mover was travelling east on the Mid Western Highway about 12.30am when the driver failed to negotiate a bend just west of the Rankins Springs township.
The driver lost control and the truck left the roadway and rolled onto its side.
The driver was trapped in the cabin and was admitted to hospital with minor injuries.
Police are also investigating a brawl outside a hotel in Hillston about 12.15am on Saturday morning.
It is believed a large number of female patrons were involved in the melee which spilled out across the roadway.
Police are viewing CCTV footage in an attempt to identify those involved.
