With music and legs pumping, it was more like a scene from a dance party than a Spin Marathon at the Griffith Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre (GRALC), when 14 teams used exercise bikes to support three worthy causes.
GRALC gym co-ordinator Vivienne DeValentin described the fundraiser for Give Me 5 for Kids (Griffith Base Hospital Children's Ward," Griffith Breast Cancer Support Group and Kalinda school bus as amazing.
"The whole thing was like a party from the very moment it started," she said.
"It was an amazingly wonderful day and I hope it becomes an annual event.
"Every team who did it, said they'd do it again."
Bikes were ridden constantly by team members throughout the six-hour event.
But three riders, Craig Tilston, Angela Salvestro and Jason Austin went above and beyond riding the entire six hours without a break.
"It was a massive effort from them. They got on at noon and got off at 6pm," Ms DeValentin said.
"The two boys are outdoor riders, who are used to doing long distances, but Ang found it quite emotional when she got off. It was obviously very challenging physically. She was hobbling a little bit the next day.
"We had kids and adults doing the limbo and the Waratahs boys entertained, which made it interesting."
Ms DeValentin said, while they did not have a final figure, they were hoping to raise around $15,000.
"It was loud all day, like a six-hour dance party," she said.
"We couldn't have done it without all of the help and support from everyone who got involved.
"It was nice to see the groups who came along and stayed for a good block of time. They all helped add to the atmosphere of the day.
"It's all for a good cause but also great to see everybody come together. It's become a real family event."
