With 37 artists, 34 crew members, 21 trucks, eight clown cars and 18 inflatable clowns, the visit is part of the Great Moscow Circus's fifth national regional tour.
Circus general manager Greg Hall said after successful shows in Dubbo he was delighted to be back in Griffith to present two hours of "edge of the seat" entertainment.
"We just finished in Dubbo and we had 14,000 people come to see the circus," he said.
"We expect a minimum of 5000 in Griffith over the short time we are here.
"Griffith is town number 63 for us. We have been all over Australia and by the the time we finish we will have been to around 80 towns and travelled 72,000kms.
"Even if you've been to the circus before you can't say you've seen it because it is a brand new show. Each one has to be better than the last. That's our challenge."
Mr Hall said locals could expect world class entertainment right on their doorstep.
"There will be a few surprises and I expect to see some people with their jaws open wide," he said.
"The circus is a great family event and it doesn't matter how old or young you are, there is something for everyone to enjoy."
Audiences will be treated to a stunningly visual array of high tech lighting and elaborate costumes and while the traditional exotic circus animals may be gone, the posse of very clever Miniature horses will still excite.
The Great Moscow Circus will be at the Griffith Showgrounds from tonight through until Sunday, July 20.
