A GRIFFITH business wrongly named as one of the properties owned by cash-strapped businessman Bruno Mancini has moved to distinguish itself from the businesses caught in Griffith's economic downturn.

In Monday's The Area News, it was reported that the Acacia Motel was among the multimillion-dollar portfolio of commercial properties repossessed.
But Acacia Motel proprietors Alan and Carol Scott say the business is, in fact, flourishing.
Since taking over the 30-room motel in May last year, the business has gone from strength to strength.
"We've been here just over 12 months and we are confident about our future in Griffith," Mr Scott said.
"The past 12 months have certainly exceeded our expectations. Everything has gone really well.
"We have spent many thousands of dollars in refurbishments. In this business you have to be willing to make improvements to increase your patronage and that's what we are doing."
Despite the shocking news that so many businesses are in trouble in Griffith, Mr Scott said he had only experienced positivity.
"We are booked out most nights of the week," he said.
"From July 1 to 11, our occupancy rate was 91 per cent.
"Whether it's in the country or the city there are some businesses who will fail. It just depends what you put into it.
"As far as this town goes, we love the place.
"We are happy with the service from our local suppliers and most of the motels in town seem to work with each other.
"If our property is booked out and we have an inquiry, we have no hesitation in referring people to the other motels in town, usually we phone them there and then.
"Customer service goes a long way."
According to TripAdvisor, the on-line website providing visitor feedback, the Acacia is highly ranked.
"Out of the nine motels in town, we are ranked number two," Mr Scott said.
"Carol and I have been moteliers for 15 years and I can tell you that this motel is flourishing.
"Acacia Motel is a privately owned property, with very positive operators.
"Businesses come and go, but I know for a fact that other motels in town are running at high occupancy levels as well.
"Of all of the towns we've been in over the years, Griffith has been the busiest and friendliest."
The Grand Hotel building is owned by Mr Mancini, but not the business.
