Last year he won an all expenses trip to a tropical island, now to top it off he’s got a job that he reckons is pure gold.
Mr Flack won his way onto XXXX Island, which is located 15 kilometres off the coast of Queensland, after turning an old beer keg, some scrap metal and a hotplate into a rotisserie barbecue he likes to call the Good as Gold Barbie.
He and mates Brett Crooks, Ben Murphie and Luke Henderson had a ball on the island indulging in their favourite pastime of fishing.
The team from XXXX were so impressed with his barbie they asked him to be one of only three official XXXX Gold ambassadors, working as a Spanner and Thongs Academy Dean.
The former army vehicle mechanic, who is now a stay at home dad, said he never dreamt his invention would lead to the dream gig.
Now he wants local men to see if they can come up with inventions of their own and reap the rewards.
“When I did the barbecue I never thought anthing like this would happen,” he said.
In his new role Mr Flack has to come up with inventions to entice others to enter competitions to win their way onto XXXX Island.
Most recently he was required to “Invent the best way to watch the game”.
“It’s a lot of fun. Every few months they might ring me and say we need to do a shoot,” he said.
“I came up with the idea to use the back of a rock truck and turn it into a spa to watch the game in.
“It can be seen online and the video clip challenges others to see if they can top it.
“There are so many blokes around who makes things. Most things are made out of necessity to make a hard job easy.”
In the past Mr Flack has turned an old Wolseley car into the ultimate lounge for a man cave, complete with flashing tail lights and fully functioning radio.
Mr Flack has urged locals who fancy themselves as an inventor to check out the XXXX Gold Facebook page or website.€
