The Griffith hairdresser has been undergoing chemotherapy in Wagga for the past five weeks and said the facility had made her recovery immeasurably easier.

"Living in Griffith, I would have had to travel four hours a day every day," she said.

"Some days you're tired from treatment so it would be really difficult if you had to do that."

Dry July has chosen Lilier Lodge as a beneficiary for the upcoming Dry July fund-raiser.

Participants are asked to abstain from alcohol for a month to raise money for a variety of causes.

Mrs Curran said the cancer patient accommodation centre, which assists cancer patients from around western NSW, and is run by Cancer Council and Can Assist, was in need of funds to help keep it afloat.

"If they don't keep support running, then they can't keep up with the upkeep," she said.

"It would be a shame to lose something like this."
