Organisers of Puttin’ on the Stitch want to hear from local sewing enthusiasts interested in being part of something that helps raise funds for two worthy causes.
Co-organiser Margaret Bandiera said they hoped to be able to set a date in August for the stylish event, which will raise money for the Griffith and Leeton Support Group and Griffith Country Hope.
“We want it to feature all handmade items,” she said.
“If anyone is interested in helping us organise or contribute, we want to hear from them.
“The idea is to hold a fashion parade and have stalls set up allowing local people to showcase the talent that is out there in Griffith.
“We’ve had some good feedback so far, with quite a few people saying they like the idea, but we want to put it out there to see what others think.”
Mrs Bandiera said ideally the fashion parade would be made up of everything from children and adults clothing to accessories, costumes and even lingerie.
“I know there are a lot of great sewing enthusiasts and dress makers in Griffith,” she said.
“I’d like to have it run like the Golden Gowns in Wagga.
“But we will have to see what interest we get first.”
