The retrospective flood funding was granted to council for the clean-out of drains along Eden Street one of the suburb's most flood-plagued areas.
Mr Piccoli said the funding was is in addition to the millions of dollars already granted by the state government.
"Work here at Yoogali had to happen, it's probably well overdue," he said.
"Whatever the state can do to help, it will."
Mayor John Dal Broi said cleaning a build-up of silt out of the drains, which washed there during the March 2012 flood, was necessary to prevent further flooding in the residential street.
"These sorts of grants help a lot because otherwise the burden would be put on ratepayers," Cr Dal Broi said.
Council is currently working on a flood plan to assist in the prevention of future flood events.
