It will be held on April 11 and will be conducted by Professor Stephen Twigg, Dr Albert Hsieh, Associate Professor Marg McGill, Connie Luo and Karen Klaassen. All are from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Diabetes Centre.
The Griffith Branch of Australian Diabetes Council president Tom Marriott said he was thrilled to announce the return after months of uncertainty.
The future of the outreach clinic in Griffith was unknown after Prof Dennis Yue, who visited the city for 20 years, retired last year.
Prof Twigg, Associate Prof McGill, Connie Luo and Karen Claassen are all part of the team, who came to Griffith’s former clinics under Professor Yue.
They will be assisted by a local podiatrist and a local dietician.
The Griffith Branch of Australian Diabetes Council will provide the return airfares from Sydney, accommodation, transfers and related expenses for the visit.
The team will arrive in Griffith on Thursday afternoon, ready for an early start on Friday 11, to return on the late flight that afternoon.
People with complications in their diabetes control should consult their doctor for a referral and appointment at the Community Health Centre.
“This is a unique opportunity to be examined and assessed by some of the leading diabetes specialists in Australia and have these specialists’ advice relayed to their GP,” Mr Marriott said.
