POLICE are on the hunt for a cowardly criminal who shot a dog in a Griffith backyard and left it to bleed to death.

The shocking incident occurred sometime during the night on February 11.
The owners of the Hillam Drive property went into their backyard and found their dog dead with a large pool of blood around it.
Initially, the owners believed the dog was poisoned.
However, the vet who performed an autopsy on the animal suggested it died from a gunshot wound.
Police are continuing investigations into this matter.

THERE was no love lost between two Griffith women who got into a fight about 3.30pm on Valentine's Day.
Police were called to Verri Street, after receiving reports that an assault had occurred on a 40-year-old woman.
It's alleged a 36-year-old woman approached the victim and punched her while she was sitting in the front yard.
A struggle ensued between the parties and as a result, the victim sustained facial and head injuries.
Police arrested the 36-year-old Griffith woman and she was formally charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
She was later bailed to appear at Griffith Local Court on March 5.

ON SATURDAY evening, police from Griffith Highway Patrol stopped a motor vehicle in Coolah Street Griffith for the purpose of a random breath test.
A 35-year-old Griffith man was subjected to a roadside breath test and returned a positive reading.
Further checks revealed the man's licence was disqualified.
He was arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station where his breath test returned a high-range reading of .160.
He was issued a field court attendance notice to appear at Griffith Local Court on Wednesday, March 26.

POLICE with very refined noses have cautioned a Darlington Point woman for cannabis use.
On Friday, a 46-year-old woman was arrested and searched after police detected the smell of cannabis on her at a licensed premises in Darlington Point.
The search uncovered a small amount of cannabis.
The woman was issued a cannabis caution for possessing a prohibited drug.
