CareSouth is the non-government organisation helping children newborn to 18 years of age in Griffith.
CareSouth western project manager for foster care, Rob Wilson, said the need for foster carers from all walks of life was undeniable.
"We've been in Griffith now for about 12 months. The need is huge in Griffith," he said.
"Family and Community Services (FACS) carers have transitioned over to CareSouth.
"We've now got an office in Griffith and one in Deniliquin.
"Foster carers are everyday people.
"Care can be provided by an individual, couple or family. You may be a same-sex couple, have children of your own or be retired.
"CareSouth provides exceptional support through training, mentoring, personal visits 24-hour back-up and a tax-free allowance."
Mr Wilson said there were five different types of foster care, crisis or immediate emergency placement of children, respite care, short term-under six months, long term-more than six months and relative or kinship care.
He has put a special call out for a carer who may be able to help a 10-year-old girl in Griffith.
"She is typical of our referrals and is a high needs child of Aboriginal background," he said.
"We are looking for a carer, who needs to have time to take her to specialist appointments, preferably someone who doesn't work.
"We cannot place her with a family who have other children or if they do they would have to be older female children.
"This little girl is an example of an immediate need in town at the moment."
