Jarrad Grant sidelined due to foot fracture

Western Bulldogs forward Jarrad Grant has become the latest casualty on an injury list starting to pile up over the pre-season.

A foot fracture suffered at training late last week will force Grant to the sidelines for the entire NAB Challenge series and the start of the Dogs' home-and-away season.

It comes on the same day Essendon revealed its ruckman Tom Bellchambers would be out of action for at least three months due to ankle surgery, and Port Adelaide confirmed Jackson Trengove would miss four weeks after injury his knee, also during pre-season training on Tuesday.

Bulldogs medical services manager Andrew McKenzie said scans revealed Grant's fracture required surgery.

“Jarrad got landed on in a tackle on Friday, and subsequently sustained a fracture to his left foot, which scans later confirmed,” McKenzie said on Tuesday.

“Jarrad underwent surgery yesterday and is expected to remain in a boot for the next six weeks.

“He will have a review with the surgeon to determine when he will return to play after that time.”
