POLICE have praised the actions of a Griffith resident which led to the arrest of a 20-year-old male in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police allege that about 5.20am a Wyangan Avenue, Griffith resident's sleep was disturbed when his car alarm sounded.
Upon investigation he observed a male person rummaging through his car which was parked in the driveway.
The man fled the scene but was followed by the resident, who allegedly saw him break into a second vehicle in Konoa Street.
He called police and while waiting followed the man into Norilla St where he was arrested a short time later hiding under a parked car in a driveway.
The man was searched by police and property including jewellery, mobile phones and the driver's licence of another male person were allegedly located.
He has been charged with steal from motor vehicle and having goods in custody suspected of being stolen.
He will appear in Griffith Local Court on February 5.
"While police never encourage people to confront offenders, the resident on this occasion did the right thing by calling police and keeping watch on the male person." Inspector Reneker said.
Meanwhile, police were forced to use capsicum spray to quell a potentially violent confrontation outside a Griffith Hotel about 2.10am on Sunday.
Police allege a 27-year-old Griffith man was evicted from the hotel due to his behaviour but once outside refused to move on.
He was approached by police and became abusive before taking his shirt off and challenging police to fight.
Police used capsicum spray to subdue the man and he was arrested.
He was taken to the Griffith police station and issued criminal infringement notices for offensive conduct and excluded person remain in vicinity of licensed premises.
