YENDA is hoping Tom Spry proves the difference against Exies in the closest match of the round and battle for second spot on the ladder.

Last Saturday Exies batted first, posting 212 and Yenda was 1-39 in reply after just eight overs.

Exies' Brent Harrison said the key to the match would be getting early wickets and putting the opposition on the back foot.

"They have started their chase pretty well and the veteran of the team, representative player and very handy batsman Tom Spry comes back into their line-up, so we have to bowl well early," Harrison said.

"It's very important our bowlers focus on line and length this week to get those early wickets.

"They're one point ahead so it's a very important match for both teams to remain in the top two, so hopefully we can get it done early and get that spot on the ladder."

Spry said Yenda was feeling confident it could chase down what he labelled a par score on Wade Park's good pitch and quick outfield.

"It's been a couple of years since we've been in the finals hunt and an early win in the new year to entrench our side in the top four would be great," he said.

"It's great to have a full team back on the paddock and hopefully that will give us the confidence to build partnerships and let the balls come to us.

"We've been training well and the mood in the camp is pretty good, so we just need to make sure we put on some big partnerships, that's what this week will be all about."
