A 23-year-old woman was driving a Suzuki sedan about 10.20am when she crossed to the wrong side of the road trying to get around a bend in Groongal Avenue.

The sedan collided head-on with a vehicle driving in the opposite direction.

Both drivers were taken to Griffith Base Hospital and treated for minor injuries, while the two cars had to be towed from the scene.

Police said their inquires indicated the 23-year-old was using a mobile phone at the time of the accident a clear reminder to all drivers of the dangers of using a mobile phone while driving.

Meanwhile, two people were taken to Griffith Base Hospital for observation on Friday night after an accident in Yoogali.

A 21-year-old female was driving an Isuzu D-Max utility east along the nature strip on Mackay Avenue about 5.30pm with a passenger in tow.

About 50 metres from the Battista Road intersection, the vehicle was driven into a drainage canal and became wedged.
