YOOGALI Soccer Club coach Ryan Spencer has told his men to "just have fun" when they take on Cobram Victory on Sunday, despite the chance at a finals berth being up for grabs.
Spencer has said the "no pressure" stance has worked wonders with his squad over the last four weeks and led to some very important victories for the local side.
"The mentality we've taken into the last five weeks is that these are no pressure games for the guys to just go out and enjoy themselves," he said.
"They've been enjoying that freedom and talk around the pitch is growing and it's rubbing off on our structure and how we're defending as a unit.
"I've been really proud of the boys the last three to four weeks with their training and application to the game and their formation has been really good."
Last week's 3-1 victory against former top-of-the-table Cobram Soccer Club was a huge boost to YSC's finals chances and Spencer said he hoped to take that momentum into this weekend.
"We've always said to take each game at a time and, of course, the next one is a must-win but the guys should have a lot more confidence after last week's result," Spencer said.
"The boys trained really well on Tuesday and there's a buzz about the camp at the moment and we're looking forward to this weekend's game."
But Spencer said Victory's recent form and injuries to YSC's men would make it a tough road trip for the local side.
"Cobram Victory are a quality side they beat Hanwood 5-0 down there so they are strong at home," he said.
"We've still got to see who we have available to take down on Sunday.
"We're missing a few and last week added to our injury toll. We're waiting to see how the guys go at training but it looks like we'll be without James Taylor, Stevie Crombie, Luke Congdon and possibly Scott Damini.
"You expect knocks and injuries at this time of the season but last week Dave Sinclair and Jordan Dal Broi came off the bench for us and did a good job so we'll be looking to the squad to really help us out this weekend."
Spencer said he didn't expect the road trip to add any further stress to his squad, with the side having a good record in away games.
