THE annual arson attack on a Lake Wyangan palm tree was just one of the blazes that kept fire fighters busy across the weekend.
Just after 11pm on Sunday night, Rural Fire Service volunteers were called to a palm tree alight behind Dickson Street at Lake Wyangan.
Crews managed to quickly extinguish the tree, which is set alight around this time every year.
Also on Sunday, a fire at Slopes Road in Tharbogang – which is under investigation by fire authorities – was reignited but was quickly put out thanks to the fast response of Hanwood and Lake Wyangan RFS crews.
Meanwhile, the Murrumbidgee Valley National Park at Benerembah burned once again after a large tree still smouldering from a bushfire earlier this month took off.
National Parks and RFS crews were able to bring it under control and extinguish it completely.
Lexi King from the RFS reminded everyone they now needed permits to burn off after the bushfire danger period came into effect on Monday.
Permits, as well as bushfire survival kits, are available from the RFS control centre on Wakaden Street.
