THE fifth Griffith Multicultural Festival has been declared the best ever by organisers.
Bumper crowds, an expanded number of performances and wider representation among nationalities combined to transform Memorial Park into a multicultural melting pot on Saturday.
“There’s been an increase in performances and a lot more variety this time,” Festival organiser Carmel La Rocca said.
“It’s been a great day – the best one.”
The increased interest in this year’s event saw organisers push the finish time back an hour to accommodate all performances and activities from local schools and community organisations to groups who travelled from Sydney.
They included a Chinese lion dance, a Celtic bag pipe group and the popular spaghetti-eating competition.
While the performance stage provided the day’s entertainment, food, craft and clothing stalls were just as well received.
With the first five years now behind them, organisers are now looking forward to celebrating another milestone – their 10th anniversary in 2018.
