HOW much cash would you need to stash to consider a pash with your workmate?
For Star FM breakfast co-announcers Tanya Hennessy and Mike Narrier, $5000 will do it.
What started as a joke for the mouthy pair has turned into a serious fundraiser for Can Assist Griffith.
“This all started when we were joking on air one morning that we would never pash each other, unless cash was involved,” Ms Hennessy said.
“Olga Forner from Can Assist Griffith heard us and was straight on the phone.
“She suggested that we should give the money we raise to Can Assist and we thought it was a great idea.
“I only met Mike three months ago when I started working here. We haven’t even hugged before so I’m expecting things to be a bit awkward.
“I’ll just keep telling myself that it’s for a good cause.”
They are currently limbering up and moisturising their lips ahead of the pash for cash. But a date for the smooch-off will only be set once they near their $5000 target.
Mr Narrier said he was willing to have some fun for a worthy cause.
“We will only kiss if we reach the $5000 target, but anything we make will definitely go straight to Can Assist Griffith,” Mr Narrier said.
“The work that Olga does around town is amazing. If we can help raise some money to help locals we’ll be happy.”
Cash buckets have been placed around town or you can call the station on 6964 0800 and relevant bank details for donations will be passed on.
A delighted Mrs Forner is urging the Griffith community to get behind the pair.
“What a wonderful thing these two are doing,” she said.
“It’s a bit of fun and we could do with that because the job we do is very serious and sometimes extremely sad. I hope the community will get behind Mike and Tanya because they are putting themselves out there for such a good cause – to help cancer patients in Griffith.”
