THREE local riders faced down heavy competition – and some extreme weather conditions – at the annual Gasgas Victorian Junior and Senior Dirt Track Titles held in Broadford on the weekend.
Zac Zanesco and juniors Brandon Burns and Callan Butcher were among 120 contestants from all states who took part, and all three flew the flag for the Griffith Motorcycle Club admirably.
The trio were thrown a few challenging obstacles at Broadford - not least the late change in weather, which promptly turned the dirt track into mud - but all were able to deal with them, bringing home some commendable placings.
Zanesco, who impressed at the recent Australian Classics at Temora, finished fifth overall in the under 19s and also came fourth in the Pro-450 class and 10th in the Pro-250.
Burns, 8, was the most successful local rider in the under 7-9 KTM 65cc class, coming second and continuing his improvement since he was ranked 12th in the country at the Australian titles in West Wyalong earlier this year.
Finally, 10-year-old Butcher also put his best foot forward in the under 9-13 KTM 65cc, finishing fifth.
