LOOK out music world, Griffith’s own hip hop star is ready to become the next big thing.
Yung Kraze – known to his family and friends as Kevin Simpson – has just been announced as a local performer on American rapper TI’s upcoming Australian tour.
“I’m part of the whole tour so we play in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and New Zealand,” Mr Simpson said.
“We’ve also got a few other things in the works. It’s going to be big.”
While music fans are sure to enjoy Mr Simpson’s act, one of his biggest supporters is still right here at home.
Mum Therese has watched Mr Simpson’s music career go from strength-to-strength since he was just 15.
“I’m excited myself. It’s really happening,” she said.
“It’s all pretty hectic. Now they’re talking about getting him overseas.
“When (manager Wes Patten) first heard him, he wanted to go all the way with him.”
With the strong belief Mr Simpson can make it all the way to the top, former NRL star turned manager Mr Patten is looking forward to the opportunities the tour with TI will bring.
“(Mr Simpson) is doing the whole tour with us, including the after parties,” Mr Patten said.
“Doing the after parties in the clubs will create a bit of a relationship with him and TI.
“Hopefully TI will recognise his talents and abilities and it will go from there.”
TI’s Australian tour, with special guests French Montana, Bridget Kelly and local supports The Clique, Yung Kraze and DJ Philly P, kicks off at Brisbane’s Riverstage on November 6, then moves to Festival Hall in Melbourne on November 7 and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on November 8.
