Brendan Sinclair might have only managed 10th position during race four of the 2013 Griffith Feral Joggers’ Arsova Competition on Saturday, but he was the sole jogger to post back-to-back top 10 finishes. 

As a result, the competition is now wide open, helped in no part to some tougher handicaps being handed out to the early competition leaders. 

Amy Burgess, Devansh Tiwari and Ben McCallum had never posted a long course win and had to battle it out right to the end for line honours, with Burgess taking the prize this week. 

Trent Rosato, who some thought may never return to the hill, made a welcome comeback to claim fourth position from Kim Farrell, closely followed by Aiden Fattore and Allan Jones. 

Paul Muir has shown what a little extra training can do, claiming eighth from Wendy Minato, who just might be the dark horse of this competition and is showing good improvement each week.

In the short course Alex Robinson, having been so close in past competitions, also stood on top of the podium for the first time with the week’s fastest time of 14:46, just ousting young guns Madison Bucello and Ashley Gunn. 

Positions four through seven saw a desperate dash to the line with just two seconds separating Bradley Chick, Margaret Andreazza, Angus Gunn and Lindsay Golbsy-Smith. 

It is unclear if Rodney Bortolin’s eighth-placed finish in this week’s short course had anything to do with the previous night’s footy score – but whatever it was that got him running that fast sure worked.

The Feral Joggers run each Saturday afternoon at 4.30pm at the water tower across from Pioneer Park with 5.4km and 3.3km runs on the trails and tracks of Scenic Hill.
