In what was the second game of their double-header, the Bears loomed as the Demons' best chance of securing their first victory since being thrown together mid-season.
But after a slow start by both sides, the Demons ran away with the game to secure a vital victory in the context of the sport with manager Beau Edwards beaming about the team's effort.
"The guys were just happy to get a win and they got together after the game and had a team photo they were really hyped about it," Edwards said.
"But at the same time they realise there's still two games to go and we want to get another win.
"It was a great team effort by the guys and all of the young guys that went out there really stepped it up."
Both sides began slowly yesterday as both struggled from the floor, with the score amazingly just nine-all at the end of the first quarter.
"I think both of the sides were just trying to feel each other out, but a lot of the shots that we'd ordinarily get just weren't falling, it was just one of those things," Edwards said of the sluggish start.
But from there, the energy created by Griffith from a full-court press in defence threw the Bears off their game, as the home side outscored Goulburn by 15 in the second term to take a stranglehold on the clash.
"We made them keep moving the ball and Stuart Lolotonga had seven steals in the game. He was right up on his man all game, if he went left or right, Stuart was there," Edwards said.
"He used his fast feet really well and you can see the work he's been putting in during training has helped him.
"We got a few fast breaks in the game because of the turnovers, we actually had three back-to-back, and sometimes we were getting turnovers even before they got over half-way."
However, the news was not all good for Griffith with the Demons again being handed a big defeat by Queanbeyan 110-67, but Edwards found the silver lining to the performance when compared to the first time they played the Yowies.
"They're a good side that's for sure, but we went from scoring only 30 against them last time to more than double, so that's a big turnaround for the guys," he said.
Jonathan Evans was again the go-to man for Griffith with the on-court leader torching the net for 34 and 37 points in the respective games.
