GRIFFITH’S proud history in rugby league has been honoured by a mural featuring the city’s most influentual players at the Northside Leagues Club.
Unveiled at a special dinner at the weekend, the mural commemmorates the achievements of greats including the late Len Bertoldo, Australian representative Ray Brown and revered Waratahs coach Fred Griffiths.
Artist Michael Senatore approached the Leagues Club board with the idea after they signalled their intention to erect a piece at the Northside club dedicated to the history of the game in the city.
“It was a pretty big project. I reckon it took me over three weeks to put together,” Senatore said.
“We took 12 players from the hall of fame at the Southside, the ones that have gone to state or country level and put them all in one big wall-sized mural.”
