IF EVER there was reason for locals to be inspired by a season, this is it.
Artists are being called on to help celebrate the colour and beauty of spring in all its glory in Griffith.
The city’s floral-inspired art exhibition, Flower Power, is entering its seventh year and Griffith Regional Art Gallery is looking for entries.
Gallery coordinator Kristy Brown is hoping the exhibition will attract some striking pieces.
“It doesn’t matter what medium. People of all ages are welcome and there are no size restrictions imposed,” Miss Brown said.
“It could be anything as long as it ties in gardens. People are really only limited by their imaginations.”
The annual Flower Power exhibition is designed to complement Griffith Festival of Gardens held from October 18 to 21, with artists asked to be inspired by this year’s theme, Bold and Beautiful.
“Over the years we have exhibited paintings, drawings, photography, textiles, embroidery, sculpture, jewellery, video, mixed media and collage, so I am really looking forward to seeing what this year will bring.” Miss Brown said.
“Flower Power is always a popular exhibition for the gallery. Last year the exhibition included works by school groups, first-time exhibitors as well as more experienced artists and craftspeople.”
Entry forms can be downloaded from the gallery website at www.griffithregionalartgallery.com.au and works need to be received between Wednesday, September 25 and Friday, September 27.
“It is always such a bright, colourful and cheerful exhibition and visitors to the gallery enjoy admiring works submitted by our creative and talented community,” Miss Brown said.
Flower Power opens Thursday, October 3. For more information, contact Griffith Regional Art Gallery on 6962 5991.
