FILLIES, frocks and fascinators will feature foremost tomorrow in Griffith when racegoers step out in style.
Organisers of the Yellow Tail Griffith Cup are hoping to see a good crowd flock to Dalton Park.
Griffith Jockey Club president Judy Kroek said everything was in place for a great day out.
“I think this year the weather should be amazing,” she said.
“The forecast is for a perfect spring day.
“We’ve got fashions on the field and we are expecting lots of entries for that. We have five local judges choosing the winners for us.”
Mrs Kroek said, while horses would be the main attraction, the whole family had been catered for.
“There will be a jumping castle and activities for the kids so mum and dad can socialise and have a bit of a flutter,” she said.
“Because this event is once a year, it’s a big day for Griffith. We find that people use it as a chance to catch up and we see a lot of work parties.
“Don’t let the election to put you off coming to the races. There will be time in the morning to vote before you come out.”
Local fashionista Taryn Franco, who owns Sassi, said she was looking forward to the day.
She said she expected to see monochrome and colour feature side by side in the fashion stakes.
“I think that going into spring we’ll see lots of colour and shorter dresses,” she said.
“The trend at the moment is definitely black and white.
“But being spring I’d expect people to embrace colour.”
Free buses will run throughout the day from the visitors centre car park starting from 11.30am.
