WHAT a difference a year can make.
This time 12 months ago, Yenda’s Memorial Park resembled a lake. But yesterday, the park was a reservoir of hope, with more than 500 of the town’s residents gathering for the Yenda Community Flood Recovery Fun Day.
Hosted by Yenda Rotary and Griffith Musician’s Club, the event aimed to bring the community together a year on from the devastating natural disaster.
The emphasis was on fun and family, with music, a jumping castle and a feast of food keeping locals entertained.
“This was all about tapping into Yenda’s community spirit,” Yenda Rotary president Brian Edwards said.
“About 50 per cent of residents are still not back in their homes yet and we thought this would be a great way to put smiles on a lot of faces.”
