GRIFFITH'S Dean Wynne took three wickets and shattered one bat to pieces as his side wrapped up its Creet Cup campaign with a convincing win over Lake Cargelligo on Sunday.
Already considered one of the most fearsome bowlers in local cricket, Wynne did his reputation no harm by bagging 3-13 off just seven overs at Exies No.1.
Not even Lake Cargelligo top-scorer Gerard Haase could handle his performance, with his bat destroyed after copping the full force of one of Wynne's scorching deliveries.
The paceman eventually broke through and dismissed Haase for 38, and also sent Lake skipper Mitchell Johnson (6) and tail-ender Adam Pradere (0) packing for low scores. Marc Tucker also bagged 3-30 as the Griffith Opens bowled Lake Cargelligo for 107 after the visitors had won the toss and chosen to bat first.
While it was a meagre target, the home side's run chase didn't go off without a hitch. Griffith openers Kris Hicken (8) and Phil Burge (2) came and went from the crease fairly quickly, leaving the locals in early trouble at 2-11.
And it didn't get easier in a hurry the next four batsmen all went cheaply and at 6-51, a disastrous loss was on the cards.
But a 45-run partnership between Mick Crosato (36no) and skipper Ty Pascoe (18) rescued Griffith's innings, as the home side surpassed Lake Cargelligo's score with three wickets still to spare.
