Daughter’s love is a cut above

SHE could have asked for roses, chocolates or even jewellery, but all Teasha Garofalo really wants is to help her seriously ill mum, Tess.

With Valentine's Day tomorrow, Teasha's boyfriend Cody O'Farrell is proving how much he cares by vowing to shave his head to raise funds for the support group Griffith Can Assist.

Miss Garofalo's mother is battling secondary cancer of the blood. She was diagnosed with Bowen's Disease - a form of skin cancer - four years ago.

"When I asked her what she wanted she told me she didn't want anything just to have her mum better," Mr O'Farrell said.

"There isn't much I can do, so I'm trying to raise some money to help cancer patients.

"It's only hair, it will grow back. I haven't set a date for the shave yet, but I'd like to do it at Wade High School, where we both go to school, and I'm hoping everyone will get behind me. I will be asking local businesses to sponsor me too."

The 15-year-old said, as Valentine's Day gifts go, this was pretty special.

"It's a beautiful gesture," Miss Garofalo said.

"I don't want anything else for Valentine's Day. He's already given me so much.

"It is lovely to think that he would do this."
