Yenda snaps up Williams

Group 20 rugby league

JARRAD Williams has turned down the opportunity to reunite with his brother James at Tullibigeal-Lake Cargelligo by joining the Yenda Blueheelers for this season.

The 25-year-old was offered the chance to play for the Sharks but explained he jumped at the opportunity to fill the vacant No.9 jersey at Yenda instead.

"Knowing that hooker spot was there for the taking helped make the decision a lot easier," Williams said.

"I know a lot of boys out there and I know Yenda's a pretty good club.

"They're going to have a pretty strong side this year so I'm excited about the season ahead."

The Williams brothers previously played together at the Waratahs Tigers, where the hard-working rake was last season.

His signature gives Blueheelers boss Roy Romeo another selection headache, with the club now boasting a number of options at hooker to compliment a forward pack that is bursting at the seams.

"When Jarrad plays to his fullest potential, I reckon he's probably one of the best hookers in the group," Romeo said.
