GRIFFITH residents are being urged to turn out in force tomorrow to show their Aussie pride.
Australia Day celebrations will be held at Pioneer Park from 7.30am, when the annual Big Aussie Breakfast, now in its 25th year, will be served.
An ecumenical service will follow ahead of the ceremony to welcome and induct 46 new citizens.
Australia Day Committee chair, Cr Christine Stead, said the morning's activities were a great chance for locals to show their Aussie spirit and see what one of the city's favourite tourist attractions has to offer.
"Australia Day is an opportunity for us all to recognise the service made by tireless volunteers, the achievements of our sportspeople and to welcome the 46 people from 13 different countries who are becoming Australian citizens," she said.
"Pioneer Park is beautiful in the morning so I hope locals will come along and enjoy the breakfast, which Pioneer Park Management committee members, volunteers and Rotary have organised, and then stay for the official proceedings."
Griffith's Australia Day ambassador is Gretel Killeen, who is well-known for her varied career including work as a stand-up comedian, a best-selling author, radio host and social commentator.
The presentation to the Australia Day Award recipients will follow immediately after Ms Killeen's speech.
Following the official ceremony and Australia Day address, the Griffith branch of Soroptimist International will be hosting a morning tea for those attending the activities.
