She is breathing easy after being offered early entry into her dream physiotherapy course at CSU Orange.
"Since I did work experience in year 10 I've wanted to do this," she said.
"I worked with an elderly lady who had a stroke and they left me with her with some set exercises to do.
"It was amazing to see how she progressed in that short week. It made me realise what a difference you can make to people's lives."
Despite the family farm at Beelbangera being inundated with floodwaters, the determined 17-year-old remained focused to achieve her goal.
"Yenda got pumped to us so we were flooded for two-and-a-half months," Miss Groat said.
"It was a stressful time. It was around the half yearlies. Sheep had been stranded and we had a helicopter fly in to feed cattle. But mum and dad made it great for me.
"My career adviser Mrs Bergamin was brilliant too.
"To know that I'm going to university regardless of my score is pretty amazing."
Of the 81 students in year 12 at Wade High School, 40 have received early entry to uni.
HSC results are available from 6am on Wednesday, December 19. Students need their student number and HSC PIN to obtain their results online, or by SMS or telephone.
