THE Yenda Blueheelers have pulled off a stunning pre-season coup, signing former Waratahs star Kodie Charles for 2013.
Charles, a hard-running backrower and Group 20 stalwart, agreed to terms with Yenda on Tuesday and is expected to add some much-needed starch to the club's 2013 forward roster.
The signing comes after the retirement of a number of key Yenda forwards including veteran Trevor Richards at the end of the 2012 season.
"It's an awesome signing for us he has plenty of experience, tackles like anything and has that will to win," Yenda co-coach Roy Romeo said.
"It's good to see players of Charles' calibre wanting to join the club and there are others we are targeting."
Romeo revealed hulking prop Enoch Tia, who played with the club in 2005, and TLU big man Trent King were both expected to play in the blue and white in 2013.
Charles played a cameo season for DPC in 2012 but is better known as a Waratah-Tiger, leading the side in 2011.
A potent ball-carrier with a deft offload, Charles will be looking to improve his form and his fitness from last season.
